    • So I rang the local newspaper to find out why they havent published anything regarding my NG verdict after they printed that I had been charged. Turns out the reporter didnt even bother to send it , good news aint news! Anyway instead they are printing a story on what I have been through and the support and stuff that I had obviously culminating in the court case, im a bit nervous about it being printed but glad my name will be cleared publicly.

Also this friday im having a chat with my subordinates at work about what I have been through purely in the hope that if they are in a similar situation with a girl, they just take the time to think about what could possibly happen. So anyway im gonna talk about my experience, the law, solicitors, the cost etc and a few of my own thoughts, i was wondering if anyone else has any key points that i should get across. Bear in mind the audience is sort of 18 to 25 years old private soldiers.

      • short and to the point? Keep it in your trousers and don't put yourself into a vulnerable position.

well done on the newspaper article - yep - good news doesn't sell does it?

        • Good for you Billy, will they let you see the article before they print it?

Agree with what RFLH says but who would have known something like this could happen? I certainly didn't - different now of course!
You hear so much about how girls can avoid putting themselves in vulnerable positions, good lesson to let the males know too.

          • Sorry I missed all this. Been on and off for about a month now and seem to be missing lots of things.

            Congratulations on the outcome.

Very detailed and good write up too! Nice to lay it all out there for others to read. I'm thankful that you've come out the other end a free man.

            Wow... A signature option!

Hi billy, I guess there'll be some girl soldiers there too, so I'd suggest mentioning that women can get accused of rape and sexual assault by other women (even if they are heterosexual - as in my case) and by men too - although this is less likely. Well done you for helping out others...

PS - no surprise re case not being in the paper, but you can bet your bottom dollar that if it had been "guilty" it would have been all over the front page

              • Well done for going ahead with this. As far as the advice to your subordinates....

                - Treat others (male and female) as you would wish to be treated.

                - Remember the adage " Hell has no fury like a woman's scorn"- never deliberately hurt or humiliate a woman .

                - How to react to the police and the initial legal stuff is so important - have the card of a specialist or good criminal solicitor in your pocket at all times . It will probably never happen and one day you can use it to light a camp fire with your great- grandchildren.

                - Get them to have a look on this site.

                You are an inspiration Billy.

                • Christ.... My story made the front page didnt expect that but its good it draws the attention of what goes through the mind of someone falsely accused.

Thanks for all your suggestions I will put them into my chat on fri.

Whatsgoingon : thats really kind of you to say, but im not an inspiration, i just got presented with a crapp situation and tried to make the best of it, obviously with a few hiccups and dips along the way.

                  • well done Billy - hopefully it will make a few people stop and think - hopefully you may get a few apologies along the way.

                    • Billy, I'm so pleased that you are going to talk to some fellow soldiers about the danger of getting p1ssed and indulging in casuals sex.
Your story made the front page? Yikes. Are you happy with what it says? have there been any repercussions?

I respect your opinion even if I don't entirely agree!

Brilliant news for the report - can we have a link?

We had a pep talk with the dozen or so friends of my son who came to support him in court at different times during the 5 day trial, and with whom we had the pleasure of celebrating afterwards. I was able to give the different scenarios that have been displayed on here with the ways some people will set up or use different situations for their mischievious ends.
Even a couple of my 'pc' friends were completely shocked by how ruthless the system is.

Spreading the message is a form of prevention.

                        Good luck with it all

                        • Well done for turning your experience into a warning for others. If you stop just one person getting themselves into a position they can be falsely accused of something then you have saved them. Be proud of yourself

Is there a thread or information board on here that states some of these ways a young man or anybody can stay safe from false allegations?

As a mother of teenage boys I would be interested to see a list of advice to show them.

                          • Story isnt on the web yet as its only a local paper, didnt really want it on the front page but hey, not exactly what i would have written but it gets the struggle and pain of being falsely accused out there. Havent had any repercussions yet, do you think that there might be? (Might be in trouble with Army as there is a pic of me in uniform andit mentions that im a soldier)

                            • Congrats on the newspaper article...and thanks for having the courage to speak out about the devastating effects on the falsely accused.
My thinking is that most decent people reading it will be supportive. Don't know how the army
will see it though ! LP

I'm not sure there is although various members have given 'warnings' based on their experience. It would be a good idea to start one though...
