Update from Red

Red rang me today. he is feeling really down which is why he is rarely in touch with anybody. He had an email from one of our ladies yesterday and he said it was so nice, he felt like he had let everybody down, especially those who write to him and he's not written back to for some time.


He says that if he is in touch with people (especially his family ) and if he gets bad news (such as his dad has cancer and his aunts are getting on) he may not be able to handle it. It's his way of avoiding the possibility of bad news. He says he knows that is daft and he's now realised that he needs to sort himself out.


He gave himself a real telling off yesterday and he wants to to pass on his apologies for being a "dick head" (his words) and he will try to do better.


He is not due for release until January next year so just over a year to serve. At least he got a year knocked off his sentence at retrial......


If anybody who has written to him in the past,. would like to write to him again, please do let me know


You can send stamps in on SAEs - stamped addressed envelopes. Don't send any in in books or loose as they will get pinched.

Oh poor red.
I know that being inside changes you but I really hope that he can make a real go of it once he's free.
He must feel like there's so far to go still, a year in there must be like ten out here.
I will write again.
I can't even imagine what I would be like in his shoes.
These allegations change our lives completely, but his has been taken away, temporarily.
Think about him all the time.
It could so easily be one of us or someone we love.

Thanks both. On top of all that, when he is released, probation, in their infinite wisdom, want to send him to the hostel which is very local to the complainant. He's scared stiff that if he sets foot outside she will be there ready to falsely accuse him of something else, to get him recalled.

I have to wonder about the mentality of some probation officers, I really do

Why would they do that?
Is it deliberate?
Do they want him recalled?
I despair with the entire justice system!!
