Thanks all. Please keep the posts coming so I can send them in to him.
We have 27 days to find grounds to appeal within the 28 days deadline. I've started on a document and will work on that for the next couple of days and will email it to the barrister over the weekend.
Red, do not give up hope. Do not let them win. Believe in yourself and trust that everyone is working so hard to get the right result. I cannot imagine how you are feeling from the last few weeks, but please be assured that we are all behind you and all of us are constantly thinking of you.
Keep your head held high and I pray that you are back home soon. Big hugs buddy. AI x
Im also sorry for you rf you put so much energy in every case. I dont know where each of us would ve without your profound knowledge of the justice system and court procedures. I assume you do this voluntarily as well as for a living right? And you seem to have a background in law and justice.
If you (or gerry) ever stopped advising people those on the bottom of the financial spectrum would be screwed. Dont think we take this as granted, everyone appreciates your knowledge.
Have you thought about passing all tge collected knowledge on to somebody so its not only you who has to answer all the time? Id volunteer if i was able to read and understand Only one paragraph in a law book
I have just been reading about this thread and case for the first time just now. It seems to me that there has been no justice delivered in this case. If only juries can properly emphasise with the accused of such traumatic charges instead of just the victim, maybe only then they can deliver a fairer verdict. So sorry about the result [up to now] despite the hard work and hope. Good luck for the future and stay positive.
Thanks all for the messages. Please do keep them coming.
For those wishing to write to Red and you would like him to write back, please would you send in stamped addressed envelopes so he can write back to you? He is not allowed postage stamps in his current prison.
Contributions paid for first trial may be reimbursed despite being found guilty again - YAYYYY!
Just heard from the retrial sol and barrister - it seems that the contributions (£6K) Red paid for his first trial, after which the convictions were quashed, may be reimbursed! Barrister Dan is fighting for this anyway! First he got a year knocked off the sentence without going via CA and now this. Dan is a fighter!!
Initially it was thought that as he was re-convicted then he would lose the contributions, but it seems maybe not. And he should get the payments back with interest, if the arguments work.
FINGERS CROSSED!!!!
This is a great learning curve and could help others in the same situation
That's fab news, RS could do with some good news and a boost. Thanks RF for keeping us informed on any progress. He's in my thoughts a lot, hope he's in good spirits.
So it seems that he's being reimbursed about 2/3rds of what he said he paid out. I've emailed him to ask him if he is sure he paid £6K. This is good news though for those who find themselves in this situation.
Sorry I tried to make a quote but it soemhow went wrong
Oh dear! If you click on the reply quote and leave it as it is, without changing anything until you get used to it, you should be ok. Newbies often get that wrong! It's even worse in the PAFAA forums.....
It's Red's birthday on the 2nd June. If you'd like to send a "thinking of you on your birthday" card please make sure you send it about a week before, so it arrives around his birth date.
