I've been attending trials since 2000 (first one was a friend of mine who was put into prison by his daughter - he came out on appeal in 2001 - he was one of the very lucky ones).

I think that in each one the def took a notepad and pen into the dock - but maybe the barrister had pre-arranged this; today I have learned something! Thanks for that!

I honestly dont know rights fighter, all I can do is offer my own experience's and hope that they can help someone.

Crown Court procedures were complete and utter alien territory for me before this debacle

I suppose it is down to the courts concerned and their own procedures - it should be standard though so everybody knows what to expect.

Just so that you all know DT's other half was found NOT GUILTY of all counts on the indictment unanimously after a few minutes deliberation.

This was after the barrister tried to pressure him into taking a guilty plea more than once. If had had followed counsel's advice he would be sitting in prison now a self confessed child molester.

I'm hoping they report that barrister to the Bar council. I wonder how many other innocent men are sat in prison after being "persuaded" to plea bargain by that particular barrister.....apparently he had actually discussed with the Crown!!! Ye gods..............

that's brilliant news - I do hope that the Barrister gets named and shamed at some point - one to avoid.

Wonderful wonderful news! SO happy for you Doubletake.
I'm with the others - a complaint to the Law Society would be in order.
Take some time now to relax after your ordeal. Things might not get back to "normal" straight away, but the worst of the horror is behind you xx

But you must make a complaint against your barrister, he was suppossed to be on 'your side'!!!!!

                        Congatulations

Congratulations on the verdict - a few minutes - couldn't have been much of a case against you! What a nightmare for you and loved ones, and what a hideous waste of resources.
                          Kind regards
