That's great news, Witsend, especially that your son's showing interest in other people - it shows he's not concentrating on himself and his woes, and that's got to be good.
No doubt I speak for many on here, but I don't just switch off at night and forget about you all and what you are, or have been, going through. It's nice to see some feedback which shows that the damage from these traumas does have patches with sunlight in them.

Had a letter on our return from a weekend away, our Chief Constable has agreed to have our son's biometric data destroyed. just how good does that feel? AMAZING!!!!

Could I just clarify that biometric does include the DNA record to be destroyed? To me "biometric" is facial measurements, photographs and fingerprints, as facial measurements and photos are what are required for the biometric part of a biometric passport.
DNA is obviously a DNA sample, so not one and the same.

I'd be mighty peeved if I thought they were destroying what I thought was The Lot, only to find they kept DNA.

Thanks Witsend, for clarifying that. It's great that they will erase everything.
Yes I noticed that particular article, along with the words that she can expect a substantial sentence.
I also read the comment from the officer concerned who said that "within days officers began to doubt her story." Clearly that influenced them enough to conduct an investigation into her, which the police admitted to. I just wish the other 42 forces would put the same dilligence into every case.

ls, yep we are over the moon that everything is being destroyed, but have demanded a letter confirming this! hope that it gives others on here a little ray of hope that there is a chance of having biometric records destroyed. I know every case is different and this may not be possible for some but whats the least you can do but try? Have to agree that the other forces need to get their act together.

hi there folks, just thought that I would let you know that several members of our family have written to their respective MP's concerning the situation our son found himself in and that replies are starting to arrive. My Mum nearly had a head fit when she received mail with Home Office written on the front of the envelope. You are all in my thoughts .

thats excellent witsend, keep up the good work. sooner or later someone will listen or an mp will raise this and then more people will come forward. i have written to my MP and to the pm. sooner or later someone will figure out that there are two sides to the story and that plod do not always do their job properly

mixed feelings

having a strange day today we are all so pleased to be having the biometric stuff destroyed and trying to get on with our lives, so why would i like to sit down and cry today? Even I have trouble getting my head around the fact that somebody (admittedly she also has special needs) could do this to my son? I really would like to get some form of revenge, make her and her family, suffer like we have. I don;t know? just feel a bit of an emotional mess today. I feel guilty for feeling this way as our ordeal is over whilst so many of you are still going through it.

Its to be expected feeling this way, it'll take you quite a while to get back on an even keel, so don't be surprised when it hits you again.

It may be a strange thing to say but try to let it go. Being angry only hurts you and keeps you locked in the past.
