If he is guilty then yes I think it's lenient.
Had he been older he would probably have been accused of grooming as well.

If there is proof it was non-consensual then yes he got off lightly

"The boy had claimed the girl consented to sex, although this was found to be untrue at his trial in December last year."

Yes this sentencing report is a bit ambiguous; I missed the account of the actual trial (if it was actually reported; he might have only just turned 16)

          Yes that's the bit I didn't get.
It was either true or it wasn't but typically the press don't extend any background knowledge,

My nephew's friend has just been sentenced to 12 years for rape and false imprisonment, pleading not guilty. It was reported that he had poured scalding water over her repeatedly however his friend, who was present at all times and never interviewed says they had put her in the shower to try and help sober her up. She is known to be a bit of a fruit loop and has accused somebody else before this.

none of this was mentioned by the press who are very good at half-truths and half stories.

Get supporters to join here. Hopefully defence emphasised that bit about the shower and the jury just didn't listen, rather than defence failing them
