  • How long can you report a rape?

It?ll be almost 4 years by the first guy I was raped and soon to be a year from the 2nd guy that raped me, can I still go to court now?

It depends on what evidence there is, but yes i know survivors that have reported a rape up to 25 years later. You have to be certain that you really want to go through it all though. It is something i would suggest you speak over with a counsellor first, juts so that you are prepared for all eventualities, If you still want to go ahead, then you only have friends to make, it will be tough, but there are people out there that will support you. Always remember one thing. Even if you get no justice through a conviction. At least you would have shown him that you were not prepared to let him get away with it. Good luck

As far as I know, you can still go to court for the second charge, but not the first. I am pursuing a civil action for something, and was told by the solicitor that any charges can only be brought up to a maximum of three years after the event, unless the circumstances "are very exceptional". What classes as exceptional or not I don't know. The best thing you can do is have an initial consultation with a solicitor. The VAST majority of solicitors do not charge for these - if one tries to, go elsewhere as they will not play fair for the case anyway. It can't hurt to have a chat with a solicitor and find out the exact situation.

But are you sure the solicitor wasn't just referring to civil matters? I think you'll find that in more serious crimes, you have longer. I've heard of people bringing charges for some things years after the crimes were committed.
