  • Hello...

    Hi,
Okay, this is a completely new and odd experience. I have been raped five times since last May by three different men. Only one has had been arrested. One has since been expelled from my university but no further action has been taken and the other got off scott free.

I am trying to build up the courage to go to speak to someone about this but I don't think I can stand taking about it face to face. I would appreciate any advice on how to start the process of counselling or whatever you call it.

    Thank you for your time.

    Hello and welcome.

When I needed counselling, I went to my GP and told him what had happened. He immediately referred me to a specialist charity counselling service. It was not easy to go along for the first time, but I did it, and i went back for every session after that, for the full 6-month course. My counsellor was a very nice lady, who listened and didn't judge me.

It was a big, frightening step to go to my GP and explain what had happened, and to admit that I needed help to cope with it, but I did it. So your first port of call would be to go to your GP and tell him or her that you are struggling.

I can't advise you beyond that. Good luck.
