When very few women even have an arrest made about their case and only 1 in 20 (who report it when it is one of the most underreported crimes) get a conviction, how can that be true?

Did you know that research has proven that false allegations in rape cases are no more likely than false allegations of any other crimes? Read this forum though and it sounds like every rape victim is a lying ***** who doesn't deserve to live.

Oh no! I quoted wrongly! Instead of typing:
      "Unregistred said:
"....and I tried to kill myself when falsely accused!"
      I should have typed:
"Look at suicide rates of rape victims. I tried to kill myself". which was a quote from "unregistered".
Sorry about that folks! I was so incensed when I read her post that I got it the wrong way around.

Until one has experienced false allegations it is very difficult to believe they actually happen, especially when one has been abused themselves. However a good read through the paperwork should provide evidence of innocence, if in fact the suspect is innocent.

It's a very sad fact that people sexually abuse others, and it is also a very sad fact that people make false allegations of sexual abuse for a variety of reasons - and often get away with that, putting an innocent person into prison.

one of the worst things about my experiences living with a false allegation is that i now have a nasty seed of skepticism in my heart which wasn't there before. Until you have experienced a false allegation, you simply cannot believe that someone would concoct such a lie. i think that is why so many people can't believe false allegations happen.

Luckily for my husband and i, our lives are finally getting back on track. six months ago, he at last managed to secure a job, has stopped self-harming and talking of suicide, and our children are happy and well-balanced. we still have dark days, and it has taken us 3 years, and the unwavering love and support of our families to reach the stage we are now at. We still live in fear that his accuser may launch a claim for compensation against us, and we will never trust our justice system or the police again. we both still suffer from nightmares, and there are certain things i can't read, and music I can't listen to without sobbing furiously. Our lives will never be the same again.
