If you get nfa'd, do you always receive a phonecall/letter etc?

Good evening all,

Long story short, I've followed the forum for almost a year and a half. Around that time I kissed a girl during a night out ended up having a voluntary interview for sexual assault. I haven't heard anything since and I am wondering if you are nfa'd, do you always receive a letter or phonecall or email?

I don't entirely understand what the f/a reported as during the interview I was told somebody had already been interviewed for it, and also part of her story involved a certain place which I was not at with her, and I even provided details of a person I was with when I was at that place. I don't know if they contacted that person, as I don't know them well enough to feel comfortable asking, although I would have thought they would tell me if they had been asked.

I know this is the less serious end of the spectrum but the fact it still is referred as sexual assault has given me really bad anxiety and I don't feel up to contacting the police to ask for an update. Unfortunately I don't remember the solicitors name or company either, but I was considering phoning the ones in the town which they came from and see if they can find my name as an appointment on the date of the interview.


Anyone else have an idea how I could find out?

You should hear something at some point. This case sounds like it could be mistaken identity although the police will have to follow it up. If the accuser had been drinking she may have become confused about where she was when whatever happened.

Honestly, phoning or emailing the officer in the case would be the easiest thing but you could also phone the custody desk and ask them which solicitor was on duty that day which would cut down on a bit of legwork if you would prefer not to speak to the police directly about the case. The police are generally friendly and helpful if you speak to them nicely.

Try not to worry, being accused of a sexual offence is never easy no matter how serious but at the moment, it's just an accusation. It probably won't go anywhere.

Hi peter, thankyou for your reply.

Yeah to that first part; when I first went in for a 'chat' it was to 'help put pieces in a puzzle', then around a month later they phoned and asked me to come for an interview.

Second part; I hadn't thought of that, would the custody desk be at the town where the solicitor came from? as the police station I went to I don't think hold people as the officer said at the time 'if i had any interest in arresting you we'd be going straight to 'XXXXX place'.

Best bet would be to call the station where you were questioned to ask about which solicitor was on duty.
