  • Shocked, worried and have no idea what to do next

On Thursday morning a 47 year old drunk lady who possibly has depression and other mental health issues accussed me of raping her.

I don't know if I will be revealing too much in this post but I have no idea what to do.

I went to Manchester for a work related issue and I met her through a site.

I was interviewed by the police, the took swaps from my body and they seized my clothes and shoes. They took my phone too, I gave them my passcodes.

After the interviews I was released without bail notice - Under Investigation.

I did not have sex with the lady, she also mentioned to me earlier that a black guy had raped her previously. Initially, she told me she was married and working as nurse and later she told me she was telling lies.

She was fully clothed with her jackets on. We did kiss earlier in the night and she put her hands through my zippers to touch me.

I don't know if I should contact a lawyer now, I was given the option but I thought I would just tell the truth.

I don't know to what extent this will affect my job and my type of jobs require BPSS and SC clearances. I don't have the SC yet but I am afraid what damages has now been done.

I have read they don't really charge these women for false allegations if it is found that she has/had some mental issues.

It is sad to know a grown woman will damage or try to damage another person's live and get away with it.

It is sad, I am anxious and worried. I don't know what to do.

Hello and welcome to the forum though sorry to read of the circumstances that brought you here,

An accusation after an apparently consensual 'one-nighter' encounter is sadly not unusual in these pages although the motivations and timeframes differ, but thankfully it doesn't seem that any of them actually progress to charge. (but of course not all members update their threads with the final result!)

I'm afraid I don't know what BPSS and SC clearances are however, if your job entails working with vulnerable people and you were arrested prior to your interview, you must assume that the police have notified your employer.

There is some general advice in this link:

It is the worst time of your life no doubt and I'm sorry that you find yourself in this position. First of all I strongly recommend that you get a Solicitor to give some guidance. Do not I repeat DO NOT just go into this on your own. I made the mistake of telling the truth without a solicitor and payed the price.

Its a very very difficult and complex situation you find yourself in and although things are tough now, unless you get a NFA they get worst. Please go seek professional advise regarding this or you may end up it this go to court making it easy for the CPS twist things as easy as picking fish from a bucket. My thoughts are with you at this difficult time......

        Be strong

          Solicitor in manchester

          Hi Likeani

i am currently going through this myself albeit different circumstances...i do know an excellent lawyer in manchester who specialises in these types of instances who helped me alot and offered advice i should pass onto my own solicitor

          https://www.olliers.com/

it wouldnt hurt to run your current predicament by them and they will get in touch. i believe they have a good rapport with the met police as well so are known for dealing with these types of cases.

Good luck on this journey i'm sure this will become NFA'd it just takes time but i know exactly how you feel about all the waiting.. talking on here really helped me out
