Hi all, my husband found this site a few months back but I've been too frightened to read too much or post until now. Very basic gist, my dad is being falsely accused in a historic case. The accuser is my half sister, my parents are long divorced and my mum has been a key "witness". I have backed my dad from the start but I've tried to maintain a relationship with my mum, because she's my mum. However with texts I've read on my mum's phone and things she said to my husband while I was recovering from giving birth regarding the case I don't trust her. The trial is a month away and I'm struggling how to deal with it all, the worst of it being the guilt I don't feel I have the right to these emotions because I'm not the accused. I'd love to hear from friendly ears with coping strategies. I want so desperately to contact my "sister" and scream my thoughts at her, which of course helps nobody. Thanks in advance.

    Be strong.

And whatever you do....DO NOT CONTACT YOUR SISTER....that would be a disaster.

Hopefully you've not said anything to the police about this. Unfortunately some police officers will do anything to get a conviction (promotion often is a reward for a "nick") and would tell the accuser, who would change her story accordingly.

Has he been charged or only arrested and interviewed?

Not said anything about what? He's been charged and the trial is in 3 weeks as the plea was not guilty.

To help members offer the correct advice are you being called as a witness in the trial to give this evidence?

There is some useful advice for your dad in coping with the proceedings in this link:

Well my dad's solicitor has asked me to give a statement regarding my dad, secondary to the one I gave during the initial investigation. She asked me initially would I be willing to stand up in court to answer questions. I sent back my statement and said yes I would. However I've had no reply from her, not even an acknowledgement of the receipt of my email. Niether me or my brother have been sent any information regarding the trial we just know the date. The court witness service rang me a couple of months back but assumed I was part of the prosecution so when I mentioned that the accused was my dad they suddenly had to put me on hold to talk to their supervisor then politely but rapidly ended the phone call. I've no idea if I'm actually being asked to give a statement in court and while I have my child care sorted three weeks isn't much time if I hadn't known. I haven't spoken to the police since cps asked me for an initial statement.

No, I've read them since the case began. There was nothing I could tell the police only my mum acting an innocent party who only made a statement because my sister went to the police, yet her texts were very inciteful supporting my sister. Not evidence just shows to me my mum is lying to me about how she's dragged in, sounds like she's choosing to walk in.
