  • Chosing the correct barrister?

Im not sure if you have seen my other thread concerning my partners situation, I had a reply on it which has lead to another question I could do with some guidance please..
How do you go about choosing the correct barrister? Where do you even begin! Also, he needs legal aid money is VERY tight. Many thanks for any info...

You may find the sticky thread useful as this has a number of different solicitors who people have recommended. I think you can link it but I don't know how, so hopefully someone will be able to help. Many solicitors/barristers are nationwide and accept legal aid, although you may be able to find one a bit closer to where you are in the country. I didn't find this site until around 1-2 months before my trial earlier this year, and was lucky that my solicitor appointed a barrister that was exceptionally good in my case (and fortunately had experience in FA cases). However, as with most members on here, I would strongly advise that you seek someone who is experienced in FA cases.

    Good luck.

RF has recommended Gerry McDonald from EBR Attridge, Tottenham Ct Road Branch, London. That's who we used as have a number of other people here in the past. He's excellent, takes legal aid and works with excellent barristers including Nerida Hartford Bell who's amazing.

        Good luck

            Hi there

Sorry to here you are going through this.

I found it very stressful deciding upon the right barrister/solicitor. I spent many a night researching.

At the end of the day, you must make sure you find a barrister that specialise in the area you are being accused of and more importantly someone that is going to fight tooth and nail for you.

When you meet the barrister, you will have an indication if he is the right person for you. I had a positive feeling.

You pay for experience and at the end of the day... its the rest of your life so its worth paying for!

            Good luck to you.

Thank you for your reply, I certainly agree paying for experience is worthwhile, the problem is we literally dont have the funds I have no idea how much this type of thing would even cost, but clearly its a lot! Certainly is very stressful trying to work it all out.

Choosing a solicitors & barrister for a trial

Hi, Just wondering how people rate Cartwright king solicitors in Birmingham?
I have been accused of rape & have now been charged, so after reading this site I think it would be prudent to check how the appointed solicitor is rated.
