Yes, screenshots are the only thing that will be taken seriously when it comes to gathering Facebook evidence.
Alt and printScreen then paste into a word document. That's it really.

Most (windows) computers have a Prnt Scrn button (Print Screen). Press it and it takes a copy of whatever is on your screen at the same time.
Then, go into Start, Programs, and in there you should find MS Paint (or just Paint). Open it and press Ctrl and V together and it will paste your screenshot into Paint.
        Then just save it. Simples.

I use this all the time - you can save the visible area, the whole page or select an area. Once you have saved it if you prefer that the accusers don't know who is taking the screenshots you can edit the picture using 'crop' and just move the bit where your profile shows out of sight.

            Save as .jpg files.

The worry there is that you've interfered with the image in much the same way I could do with Photoshop.
Once you crop/move etc it's no longer an unadulterated "proof."

Could we sticky this bit as I think many of us would have no clue to how to do this? Just an idea

Yes, not all of them do. Newer laptops and keyboards should, but I'm not sure about Mac pc's.

The wording or photos cannot be edited - all this does it is to remove information not necessary for the snapshot. This method is being used for an ongoing appeal and an upcoming trial.

Many computers don't have a screenshot button but MOST will have a PrintScreen (PrtSc) button. Holding Alt whilst pressing that takes a screenie.

I am alarmed. If an image can be manipulated as to its size and accepted as proof, what's to stop me using Photoshop and adding/editing text and claiming I used your program?

The moment you put forward a manipulated image, alarm bells should start ringing.
