  • advice and support please

    hi guys.

I was arrested on suspicion of rape 3 months ago because my ex started a relationship with my partners ex-husband (who was imprisoned for sex offences and has been threatening to get me sent down since last september). the incident in question allegedly happened 3 years ago. I have made a (2 page long) list of lies that she has told me in the past, along with things she's said that contradict other things she's said.

My partner has been supportive of me as have my family, as they know I'm innocent.

I'm wondering how long I'm likely to be on bail for and welcome any advice or support that may be given

More people will be on shortly to advise you much better than I but for now I few pieces of advice.

Take all the documents you have written and hide them should the police come with a warrant and try and take them. Do not under any circumstances talk to the police without your lawyer/solicitor present or with their permission. Talking to police will not help you at all and they are there to help convict you and not help to clear your name. Start gathering as much evidence as you can and again keep it in a safe spot where the police will not find it.

After being on this forum only a few short months I have learned very quickly that being innocent and the lies of anyone's accusers being exposed count for very little in the realm of justice. The assumption is that you are always guilty and that the facts must be made to fit that end.

I'm going through something similar and I'm just about at the 6 month mark now with no word on anything. Dig in for the long term.

Joyous Guard is in the USA so the law is a bit different there. I agree that you should not hand over any originals of any documents as the police tend to "mislay" them.

I have no intention of giving the police a copy.

I'm doing my best to get on with my life as normally as possible, minus the job I lost because of her (because I had days off sick because of the initial stress of being arrested and her contacting my workplace to let them know)

What on earth was she doing contacting your place of work? Does she work there too? This is malicious in the extreme. Did your employers follow correct procedure for dismissing you?
Have you got a good solicitor on board yet? If you have, you need to let him/her know that the accuser contacted your workplace to inform them you had been arrested for rape.

Let us know how you get on.

You need to speak too a specialist solicitor as soon as you can , in my experience the duty wasn’t really much help ! Just bear in mind these type of cases seem to take an age to get sorted , other members will give as much advice as you need , your not alone in this

she contacted my work through a mutual 'friend'.

              I've got an independant lawyer.

in my police interview I pointed out inconsistancies in her statement and a motive to lie.

I've heard that she's been getting a lot of grief from people and has lost about 200 people off of her Facebook in the last 3 months

What do you mean by "an independent lawyer?"
