  • Scottish Justice System: Corroboration.

Two not entirely unrelated items on the news this morning:

    http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-21664871

    http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england...shire-17533423

Despite the Scottish Justice Secretary's assurances, doubtless the removal of the requirement for corroboration is to get more convictions and we know that a proportion of these will be down to false accusations.

Almost in the same breath, dismay is expressed at the increasing prison numbers of sex offenders, and this is before the CPS have dealt with the current flood of new cases that they are pursuing!

I listened to this on the News this morning with dismay.
It is essentially reducing the burden of proof, which is grossly unjust. I actually felt a bit sick after I watched the news article!

So the criminal justice system is to be pushed even further down a road where anyone can point and shout "Witch".

Everyone then believes them and joins in. WELCOME TO SALEM.

It's obviously big business, too good to miss and backed by the public at large. Less evidence requirements, more convicted (guilty or not)... more crowded prisons... more needed etc etc.
