  • How long does it take ?

Hi everyone it's been awhile since i was fa'd, when i say awhile i mean 26 months ago .Attended a voluntary interview with a solicitor in what now feels like a lifetime ago.Since then iv'e heard nothing at all.Ive applied for voluntary work and it requires a DBS check and i was wondering if anybody knows if this accusation will show up.

The allegation might show up on your DBS yes. But there again, it might not. I think it depends on the area. I know of guys who went all the way to trial and got the NG verdicts, whose DBS revealed nothing about the allegations let alone the Charge.

I think there is a way of finding out. Hopefully somebody on here who has been through that can help you.

If anything does show up - I think the DBS people consult you and then give you opportunity to make representation. They then take this into account and make a final 'decision' on whether to include it on the certificate.

However, like RF says - I think if can vary depending where you are. And even can vary due to the individual in the DBS office.

I presume this is only applicable if there are no convictions.

I don't think DBS consult the person, but they may well review the situation after contact from said person, with assistance from the Chief Constable as (I believe) he or she has the last say in the matter.

Have you spoken to the officer who originally interviewed you?
          Or your solicitor?
We've only been waiting 4 months, but feels like years!
Not sure whether calling the OIC is a good idea or not!

Shouldn't show up on the DBS unless you got convicted....

That's not quite true as I've heard of allegations that resulted in NFAs showing up - plus I know of at least one person whose partner found the allegation, the conviction and then the QUASHED conviction on HER DBS.
