3 teen girls in Pa. allegedly made up kidnapping story over Facebook slight

The alleged motive that reportedly drove three teen girls in Erie County to make a false kidnapping report against an acquaintance of theirs was the man’s "rude" comments about them on Facebook.

The report by one of the three teens was chilling: She allegedly told police she saw a man grab a young girl and put the girl in a sport utility vehicle and then flee with the child. The report made late last month would ignite a full-blown kidnapping investigation in Erie County.

Now, however, the alleged report and other alleged actions by the three teens have resulted in charges for making a false report, according to the website, GoErie.com.

But the real kicker is the alleged motive that reportedly drove the teens to make the false kidnapping report against an acquaintance of theirs: According to court papers, the three were getting back at the man for making "rude" comments about them on Facebook.

    Details from GoErie.com:

Pennsylvania State Police on Tuesday filed charges against Brianna M. Borden, 18, Cassandra A. Barnett, 19, and Molly A. Kolesar, 18 - all of the Waterford-area -- in the March 30 incident.

Borden was charged by summons with a summary count of disorderly conduct and misdemeanor counts of unsworn falsification to authorities, false reports to law enforcement and criminal conspiracy. Barnett and Kolesar were each charged with a misdemeanor count of criminal conspiracy.

According to police documents, Borden told a trooper she tried to follow the vehicle but could not keep up. Police investigated and found this to be untrue after tracing the vehicle and interviewing the owner.

Upon re-interviewing Borden, she eventually stated she had lied about the kidnapping because her friends "Molly" and "Cassie" had urged her to call the police and report that an acquaintance of theirs had kidnapped the girl, police said in the affidavit.

And the alleged reason for the elaborate abduction ruse?

Apparently, the teens were attempting to get back at the person they accused of kidnapping a child over his rude comments about them on Facebook.
