All About Coventry

Things to do in Coventry

For anyone wanting to sample the delights of Coventry while they are here, (It is a nice place - regardless of whatever else you may have been told) Have a look at:The Coventry Tourism Website. This covers most of the major tourist attractions.

Coventry tourist office produces a large glossy booklet that should be available at all (most of) the tourist information centres around the country. It contains a couple of nice maps of how to get to Coventry, and of the city centre. It also contains hotel and tourist site lists. We recommend you try and get one. Otherwise have a look at our Maps of Coventry city centre (Note: Password protected)

We recommend Coventry's 3 cathedrals:

For people who don't like that sort of thing, The Museum of British Road Transport is very worthwhile. It includes the Thrust cars that hold the world landspeed record, Coventry's part in the car industry and future developments. We just recommend all of it!

Or there is a historical walk around Coventry. Books or audio headsets are available from Coventry Tourist Information Centre.

Or, despite looking like a building site, The Herbert art gallery and museum is very good. It has an interesting but not too complex exhibition on the development of Coventry as a town. It follows social and industrial trends including riots between the townspeople and the council, and reflections of the war
It also has an art exhibition of pictures of Lady Godiva (who wrote through Coventry naked to protest about her husband's increase in taxes) and some random sculptures. Worth a visit

Please note: These pages are being deliberately left virtually as they were at the time of the wedding, to preserve the good website we put together at the time, for posterity more than anything else! Whilst we are endeavouring to keep links etc up to date, if replacements can't be easily found, the link will simply be removed. This is why some things may say they are links but are links no longer. Also, some of the information given here may, therefore, be out of date.
