  • Miscarriage of Justice Day Conference on Saturday 7th October 2017

UNITED AGAINST INJUSTICE (UAI) www.unitedagaintinjustice.com are holding their 16th National Miscarriage of Justice Day Conference on Saturday 7th October 2017 between 10am and 5pm at the Liverpool John Moores University, John Foster Building, 80-98 Mount Pleasant, Liverpool, L3 5UZ, followed by an evening of networking and socialising at the CASA (2 minutes’ walk)

UAI is a non-profit-making organisation run by volunteers who have either suffered a miscarriage of justice or are supporting someone who has suffered a miscarriage of justice. Every year UAI holds a day conference of workshops followed by a meeting with national and international speakers of prominence many of which are world experts in their field.

The workshops are designed to address some of the fundamental issues surrounding a Miscarriage of Justice. The CCRC will be holding a workshop -in the morning. The conference is free and open to everyone opposed to miscarriages of justice.

    Speakers in the afternoon include:

Satpal Ram, convicted 13 years ago of a killing which he has always said was an act of self-defence against a racist attack - but which the court ruled was a straightforward case of murder.

Michelle Nicholson - Without A Voice: One Woman's Fight for Justice.

Dr Dennis Eady, case consultant to the Innocence Project at Cardiff University Law School, Dr Holly Greenwood Innocence Project at Cardiff University Law School.

Professor Allan Jamieson of The Forensic Institute who has provided written evidence and advice in over 1000 criminal cases in England, Northern Ireland, Scotland, Republic of Ireland, USA, New Zealand, Cyprus, New Zealand, and Australia.

CCRC representatives will hold a question and answer session.

Joanne Donnelly a Belfast based human rights activist and campaigner for the Justice for the Craigavon Two Campaign.

Trudi Benjamin, Director of the Jeremy Bamber Campaign. Jeremy Bamber has protested his innocence for 32 years, Jeremy is the only whole life tariff prisoner who steadfastly maintains innocence.

Dean Sullivan probably is best known for playing Jimmy Corkhill the lovable rogue from the television series Brookside, will chair the afternoon. Dean is a long-time supporter of United Against injustice, this will be his third time chairing the conference.
