  • Compensation

It has only been from recent posts and cases in the papers, that I realised that 'victims ' get compensation.

I have several questions about this:

    1) Do the police inform the 'victim' that they could get compensation from the courts? and if so when do they inform them ( This may be the motivation for my accuser as I've often wondered WHY she is doing this to me as she didn't seem like a 'bad' girl)

    2) Who pays this compensation?

    3) what is an 'average' amount that has to be paid

I always felt my accuser was just ashamed of what had happened with me the night before as my partner said she 'knew' by the guilty look on the girls face what had happened. and so just made the rape story up. BUT It could be cash motivated if she knew that she would get compensation, and therefore my hopes that she would regret her actions and withdraw her charge have deceased.

    1) They have been known to yes.

    2) The criminal injuries compensation authority (CICA)

    3) £11,000 for "standard" rape, rising to a maximum £44k in exceptional cases. (£1000 for minor touching over clothes)

If you google CICA you will soon find lawyers with "award calculators"

Thanks Peter, I had no idea . Do you think that there are girls who press charges just to get the compensation ( if they know about it?) I had never heard about this before .It feels like it could be open to misuses , ie a way of making easy money, not realising perhaps the effect it is having on the unfortunate guy. Its more than even a prostitute would get for sex . Even if the girls didn't know when they first pressed the charge , they may have done it for other reasons, they may keep up the lie once they find out the amount of money they will get.

I believe this is why my sons ex is doing her FA. She has already bragged about getting free housing due to her alleged PTSD which she claimed was due to prior rape and sexual abuse long before they met. As someone who has never held down a job for more than a few weeks i would imagine she sees it as easy money!!

Without a doubt. And boys lie too. - Although it is not the complainant that presses charges, that is the decision of the cps.

There have been a couple of (misleading) articles about compensation in the news recently after the Jemma Beale case. That woman has helped highlight the falsely accused no end. Sadly, the articles will also possibly advertise the payouts to the next lot of lying scroats.

          here's one:

That's actually the report that I read in another paper, that made me aware of this compensation thing. Unreal really and as you say advertising to women the lucrative benefits of charging guys of 'rape' even though the sex was consensual

Indeed, and given that no family law matter gets legal aid unless there is a DV element now - well, it's not rocket science. :-(
