  • Week one of the trial

    Hello all.

Thought I'd update you all about my trial; a trial due to last 4 days going into next week. The defence are yet to open.

Monday morning I arrived at court within plenty of time ready for proceedings to commence, only to be told at lunchtime that the trial was to be held elsewhere due to a double booking at my local court. So Monday afternoon at 2.40pm, it commenced, jury selection completed and one half of the complainants ABE video.

The following day the ABE video was completed and she was crossed examined due to come back the following day for further questioning. However the next day legal arguements began over a document produced by the prosecutions forensic expert, which has caused significant delays as the defence are required to have this document checked.

The week concluded with the rest of the prosecution witnesses, most of them read aloud.

So all in I'm still waiting after 20 months for a decision on this and have another weekend of freedom.

Jury look like a collective group of people from a variety of different cultures.

      Good luck mate

stand strong for your kid, when giving evidence and in the box, I kept a little picture of my boy in my hand the whole time it helps a lot.

The Jury are not stupid no one wants to live with sending someone to jail for years without being sure.

Enjoy the weekend as much as you can and be fresh for Monday.

          Hi there
Well done for getting through the first week. Similar to OH Trial ,which was listed for 5 days and went to 8 days mainly through Court delays Try and have as restful a day as you can and prepare yourself for your turn to finally be heard. Answer calmly and assertively when questioned by CPS Barrister and don't be afraid to ask him to repeat if you don't understand or didn't catch what he/she says. It's all been one sided so far so keep strong and definitely hold your head up. Sending positivity for the final hurdle x
