  • Charge Sheet details

So my ex partner was arrested and questioned on allergations of raping my daughter who was 17yrs old last year. After attending bail a few times he was eventually charged but the charge Sheet says adult sexual activity with a female child family member 13-17-penetration.
So my question is this is different from a rape charge?
I've phoned the officer in charge and she is away and I can't speak to anyone till the morning but it's driving me mad not knowing!! From what I've read online it is different but my mind is tired so I could be reading it wrong!

I'm not sure about the wording of different charges but any penetration with the penis is rape, digital penetration is slightly different I think. Seems rather vague wording doesn't it. All will become clear when the accusers statements are released to your solicitors.

Thanks Peter, I spoke with the police today who, confirmed that it isn't classed as rape but is still a very serious crime. My logic is that the cps don't think a rape conviction would stand but maybe this other charge will.

I believe if you go to the CPS website it does list the offences.
It's not easy reading and quite complicated but it may help?
Try not to get too engrossed in it though as it's totally draining.

So a brief update, my ex appeared in court and it has now been reffered to crown courty which is next week.
Yesterday daughter disclosed that it has happened again.
She has been raped by a friend, going through same process again- tired, worried and just fed up is an understatatment.
I hate doubting her about the first case but now I'm just really unsure.
Police are doing everything by the book, but no one seems to have stopped and asked if she is telling the truth other than me.

My goodness. I'm sorry to hear this, your head must be spinning.

It's not uncommon for false accusers to make multiple allegations and at the same time it is known that some people are vulnerable and are targeted for that reason.

The police can be extraordinarily stupid when "believing the victim" but juries tend not to be so naive and IMO this approach is failing genuine victims that, like liars, get to court without being prepared for their stories to be questioned and cases fall apart in the witness box.

I'm sorry to say that your daughter sounds rather troubled and perhaps likes the attention but finding out the truth can be difficult. I can only suggest you try and keep an open mind and support her as best you can while encouraging her to look at the bigger picture. The fact is, despite the work of the feminazi's, joe public recognises that people do tell lies and treats them accordingly. She needs to understand that if she isn't telling the truth she will get found out and good people will desert her, never to trust her again.

Nobody really knows how many rapes there are in any given year, but we do know that there 23,851 reported rapes in the UK last year. Official government statistics is that 1.6% of reported rapes are false (a ridiculous figure in my view but lets go with that for a moment). Statistically speaking nearly all rapes reported were Men > Women.

There are 32 million Women in the UK. Assuming all rapes are reported that means that the chance of a woman being raped in any given year is 1363:1.

As the previous poster alludes do, some people are particularly vulnerable and so are in some way "predisposed to being more likely to being raped" (i.e because they are in care, mentally unstable etc).

However on the raw numbers the chances of you being raped TWICE in a single 12 month period are 1,860000:1, or to put it another way about half as likely as being struck by lightning.

If your daughter has been raped twice in the same year she would have to be extraordinarily unlucky.

Difficult few days, filmed interview done & forensics.
I expressed my concerns to officer in charge, thankfully they also have concerns
I decided I would read the statement she made regarding my ex. I'm shocked it is going to court it reads like a steamy scene in a novel.
I've decided burying my head in the sand isn't going to help, I can and will get through this!
                Thanks all!!

Good stuff. Somewhere inside each of us is a never ending well of strength and determination and once you start drawing from it I promise it will not run out

Does the FA read steamy novels? I only ask because it's not unknown for a liar to lift their tall tales directly from works of fiction.

                  Keep us posted.
