  • I'm writing an article on the way Police interrogate Rape Victims and I need your help!

    Hi everyone,

I was raped last year whilst working in Paris.

As awful as this was I found the experience of reporting it to the police just as traumatic.

I was subjected to a good cop/bad cop routine and they asked me all kinds of irrelevant questions like "were you a virgin before?" "Are you a Lesbian?", "Oh you're from Ireland, is that a Catholic country?"

I'm now working as a freelance journalist and want to write an article which shines a light on this issue.

I've received an FOI request back from the IPCC with figues on the number of complaints regarding the handling or rape/sexual abuse cases.

But I need your help too.

I want to know if anyone has had a similar experience in the UK when reporting rape/sexual abuse and if so I'd love to use your thoughts in my article.

Of course, it goes without saying that any comments would be anonymous.

    Thank you!

    Kathy

That must be the French way; I have certainly never ever seen that type of question in transcripts of police interviews in cases in the UK.

    What totally irrelevant questions!
