    Hi Folks,

I am a former Soldier who has gone through the horrendous process of being accused by two women of sexual abuse as far back as the 1960s and 1980s. Both incidents were of a malicious nature. I now live in Bulgaria and was subject to a European Arrest Warrant in 2014. I was brought back to the UK and had the ordeal of 8 months fighting my case. I am pleased to say that although the odds seemed stacked against me I was found not guilty at trial. However after two years I still have issues with health as a direct result of that process. Which included 15 days in a Bulgarian prison, not a place I would wish on anyone.

    Welcome!
    Thanks for telling your story.
It's good to hear that you got the right outcome.
However, we understand the aftermath can often be never ending.
I can't imagine what it was like for you in prison, but we do know how it feels to be falsely accused and understand all the other things that you have to deal with that go hand in hand with the allegations.
My OH was told NFA but the accusers and their families are making our lives extremely difficult.
Everyday life will never be the same.
We are stronger in many ways and so we try to look at that as a positive.
Hopefully you have learnt some invaluable things through your experience.
Keep strong and take each day as a gift.
I hope you can dwell on the good things in life, no matter how small they seem!
    Good luck for the future.
    YoH

Thanks for your welcome YearsofHell. Yes in many ways it made me stronger, but it also made me angry at being so useless to do any thing. I did spend my time on bail gathering evidence and that helped.

        Hi

Hello everyone. I am new to this site and wanted to thank the members as I took comfort reading the posts during my ordeal. My step-son and step-daughter falsely accused me of historical abuse in January. They were both prolific criminals and have been locked up for violence and various offences including harassing the family in the past because they were kicked out of the family home due to stealing and drug abuse. They were both members of a criminal gang. Anyway, to cut a long story short I had no contact with them for years and they then both got together and went to the police with a pack of lies - some credible and some totally unbelievable (even to the police). I know that compensation was behind this.
I was woken at 5am in the morning by 2 burly police officers who arrested me on suspicion of historic child abuse. I was locked in a cell and treat like a criminal. The police were horrible on the custody desk and very short with me. I honestly thought that they had made their mind up about me. During questioning I was in such a state that I could barely think straight, let alone speak. The officer was quite intimidating. I told the truth throughout and was bailed. I was absolutely devastated during the time on bail and didn't sleep for months. It was the first thing on my mind when I woke up and the last thing on my mind when I went to bed. I was on anti-depressants and sleeping pills and I found comfort in thoughts of suicide - on a daily basis. I eventually attempted suicide twice but failed (I genuinely wanted the suffering to end). Eventually I went to a specialist solicitor and he put me at ease - I don't earn a lot of money and had to take a loan out to pay the fees. I got great advice and set about writing everything down, including all of the past incidents of harassment that I had suffered and listed every incident when the police were called (20 incidents altogether). The solicitor put everything down that was useful into a letter for the CPS and included all of the things that I thought of AFTER interview. Not long after the case was NFAd. The police agreed that it was a malicious allegation yet I am still wondering why I was arrested as there was NO evidence and if the police had looked further they would have seen the previous harrassment. I am also enraged at the fact that they have't been arrested for making false allegations as there was a lot of conflicting evidence and some of the evidence was so far fetched it defied logic. I checked both of their social media accounts and finally nailed them with some statements they had posted which disproved the majority of their claims. I am now left in debt, angry and have an arrest on my record.

To all of the members here going through the same situation - please stay strong. Don't wallow in self-pity and write everything down. Please be aware of unscrupulous individuals who will promise you the world but will just try to take your money (look on the Internet for false allegations and you will easily spot them - they are the ones who will claim they can stop the case going to court, etc.). Get a solicitor who has a good reputation and is specialised in this subject. Get yourself a good support network and ignore the doubters as they are not worth thinking about. I wish you all well. God bless x

Your right!! I hope your right about karma too - it's time the families who lost so much money got something back, even if only half of it.

I know one family who are STILL paying back loans they took out to pay him (for doing absolutely nothing apart from refer them to a qC and a dodgy solicitor) about four years ago.

Scum of the earth taking advantage of vulnerable people at a very bad time. I hope his world implodes and quickly.

Are you in debt due to the individual you mention above?

You could try to make representations to the Chief Constable about the blot on your Enhanced DBS.

No, luckily I saw through the individual's boasts and researched his 'legal connection' who was equally full of it. They didn't get a penny from me. I was very vulnerable but my family made me see sense before I parted with any money. Anyone who can promise to stop a case going to court is either a liar or an idiot. I actually paid a lawyer who is an expert in false allegations for written representation before charge, eventually leading to NFA. The representations were probably unnecessary but at the time it was the only way I could fight back against the lies and show that I wasn't taking this lying down! Even now, 9 months after the arrest I am still suffering. Does the anger and upset ever go away?

                    Thank goodness for that.

I cannot understand some people actually falling for the cr*p he says verbally and writes - the same for the sols his uses. I guess some people are so desperate for help they are taken in by the bragging and lies, or ignore them in the hope that things will improve.

                      That's exactly it RF,
When it first hits you, you WANT someone to say it all ok and they can fix it straight away!!
But what you really NEED is someone to tell you straight that it might well go all the way to court!
For anyone reading this, listen to this forum!!
False promises are the worst thing!!
It's a hell of a fight, literally fighting for your freedom.
There is no easy fix, no matter how much money you throw at it.

To Mickw & all the posters above. May I offer a sad welcome to this very supportive forum.

I stumbled on this forum by accident - after a chance referral from FB. All I can say is I wished I had known of this before being NFA'd for allegation round 1. Allegation round 2 happened behind my back & failed to go anywhere. Expecting False & malicious allegation round #3 at any time. They tend to come every 6 months...

Welcome & may I hope our mutual health problems improve with proper management.

                        Kindest regards
                        Mr B
