NIKITA Forrest said she was raped at knifepoint by a 6ft black man and is now facing charges after admitting she made it up.

A WOMAN who said she was raped at knifepoint by a 6ft black man has admitted making the claim up.

Nikita Forrest is facing jail after
fabricating the story, which resulted in a
 huge police investigation.

Forrest, 26, called the emergency services alleging she had been attacked while walking home from her boyfriend’s house.

But after days of questioning and a medical examination, Forrest confessed she had lied about her ordeal.

She had even cut up her clothes before
police arrived to make it look as if she had been assaulted.

Forrest, from Springburn, Glasgow, pled guilty to wasting police time by “temporarily depriving the public of their services” between February 23 and 26, 2015.

She faced a second charge of falsely telling police on September 30 last year that people were moving a dead body and that she had been subject to malicious phone calls.

Prosecutors accepted a not guilty plea to that charge.

Glasgow Sheriff Court heard that at around 2.55am on February 23, 2015, a 999 call was made by Forrest claiming she had been raped at knifepoint 20 minutes earlier in the city’s Maryhill Road.

Detectives went to her house to take a statement and saw her in her pyjamas and “distressed”, with red marks on her face and neckline and several scratches along her throat.

Prosecutor Lindsay Docherty said: “She stated that the male had a knife which he held to her throat and told her if she screamed or cried for help he would slit her throat.

“She stated the male had pushed her into a lane beside bushes and ‘done it’ and stated what she meant by this and confirmed ‘I was raped’.”

Forrest described her attacker as 6ft and black with a Scottish accent.

Officers were given the clothes she had been wearing, which Forrest claimed she had taken off because “she felt disgusted wearing them”. It was noticed that her top and pants were torn and her leggings had mud on them.

She was examined by a doctor who took swabs for analysis.

The area of the alleged rape was cordoned off for examination and a media appeal
was issued asking the public for help, though no one was ever arrested.

CCTV and security cameras for the area were checked between February 23 and 26 to try to identify the alleged attacker.

But after extensive inquiries, including speaking to friends who Forrest claimed
to have been with and interviewing the
taxi driver who took her home, she was reinterviewed.

    Procurator fiscal Docherty said:
“The accused was asked to confirm
her statements as being true. She became upset and freely admitted she had lied and made up the whole account.”

She told officers she was annoyed at her boyfriend and cut up her own clothing.

Defence lawyer Tracey Mulholland described her client’s actions as an “immature reaction” to an argument with her boyfriend. The couple have since split.

Sheriff Bill Totten deferred sentence until next month but warned Forrest she could be going to jail.

He told her: “It represents a serious abuse in which much police time and effort as well as effort by medical and forensic persons and indeed businesses looking at CCTV had to be devoted to your lies.

“In addition, when there’s a report of this kind of stranger rape allegation carried out by someone pulling a female into bushes
or the like, that causes great concern and anxiety among public in the area.”

Sandy Brindley, from Rape Crisis Scotland, said: “What’s important to bear in mind is that these cases are extremely rare.”
