The judge should outline significant inconsistencies and say that they should treat this evidence with great care or caution
That doesn't mean he will, or that he will point them all out, depends if he is pro prosecution or not. My judge pointed out 1 of 7 inconsistencies with the prosecution case, that was after my barrister had already summed up my defence, he really didn't care at all if I was sent down.
I said "significant" inconsistencies. They cannot highlight every single on otherwise they would be there forever!
As this is about grounds for appeal though, maybe I should explain better: that depending on what the "significant inconsistencies are, and whether they go to the heart of the allegations, this could be a ground with which to appeal".
RF - is it really that easy to get the JSU? Can I just ring the court and ask for it, or are there lots of hurdles to jump through? We're emotionally fragile at the moment, so if it's easier to get it through a solicitor, then we may just do that to be honest. I don't fancy crying down the phone at too many people!!
You have to buy it. First you need to find out who the court transcribers are. The convicting court should tell you that. If they do not insist on you getting permission from the judge (some do) contact the transcribers and ask for a quote. You might need to write to the judge to ask for a copy of the JSU.
You will need to give them the name of the def, dates of the trial, the Trial number (begins with a T and has 8 or 9 digits after it). Then they will take it from there.
They charge around £130 per hour of talking they have to audio type so it depends on how long the judge summed up for as to costs.
We've ordered the JSU, which is a start, but frustratingly I've been unable to connect with Chris Saltrese. I've spoken to some very lovely people on the phone, but we'd really like to get the ball rolling asap. All this waiting is so hard, and we should be used to it by now after the very long length of time on bail, and the wait for the CPS decision, and the wait for the court date, and the wait for the jury result, but we're not.
Do you mean you have spoken with some lovely people in Chris's office? If so and he's not there, then he would be at trial, police interviews, appeal or even taking his summer holiday.

I know he's busy with existing cases (so I know he'll be dedicated to our case if he takes it) we just need to know if he's able to pick up our case, or if we need to start researching other appeals solicitors. We're feeling the pressure of the appeals deadline
Please do not worry about a deadline. Most appeals are lodged way out of time, sometimes years. There has to be good reason for this but as you have searched for assistance that will help.

Trying to take it one step at a time. Step 1, find the right solicitor (hopefully yes). Step 2 is find a cause for appeal. All the other steps can wait for now.
Still numb. Still in shock. Still want to wake up over 2 years ago. Still praying that he's kept safe.
I can't really help with appeals as I've never been there but I can tell you that the JSU is the judge's own account of what he decided was relevant to be recorded at the time, it would have been read to the jury so you should have alread heard it, but if your judge was anything like my judge who was very pro prosecution the JSU will be prosecution bias, so my advice, which is a bit late now, would have been to discretely take notes at the trial to make while trying to avoid distracting the jury in the course of doing so.
Thank you. Unfortunately circumstances meant that I was unable to be in for the JSU. They were very strict on notes being made - ie none were allowed, and people were asked to stop when they did make any. Nothing was allowed in the courtroom - no bags, notebooks, pens, anything.
