  • Partner accused by sister who is sectioned under the mental health act

    Hello,
My partners "sister" is currently in a mental health unit. We band her from meeting our child and so did social services. Out of revenge she is now accusing my partner of rapping her through their childhood, my partner was interviewed about 5 months ago and they just let him go...Not even on bail. They police phoned today explaining that he soon needs to go back in for questioning. I've printed out defence evidence of his sister sending him messages that she wants him to visit, how much she cares about him etc...
I'm just looking for advice really, what we should do, what are his chances of going down for it. My partner has lost his job over this, we have no money to live on not alone by for a solicitor! I can't pick up anymore hours than I do as I'm pregnant... I'm so scared that this is going to ruin my kids lives.

Hello and welcome to the forum,

Don't panic just yet! First things first, he obviously needs to attend the interview and will not need to pay for a solicitor to attend with him (covered by legal aid)

As you have prior notice it will be well worth seeking out a specialist rather than relying on a duty solicitor. There are recommendations from members in this thread: trawl through for someone in the same area as the police station, then phone them when he has a date and time for the interview.
