I've read that article before and I have to say it's a bit naive.

OH considered changing his name due to suffering a very public hanging, but if you're on the register you have to tell the cops if you change your name anyway. Once your off the register you're then deemed to be no longer a risk so nobody should know anyway.

It goes back to the attitude that most people think, as I did, that if you're found guilty, then you are.

i just hope someone, somewhere will one day recognize the gross miscarriage of justice that was orchestrated against us.

I know a few people who changed their names once they had served their time. Providing they tell register police there has never been any come-back.

Don't they need to put their old name on forms though, when it asks if known by other names for example.

I can see the attraction to escape the Internet and social media history which prevents people moving on from false allegations.

The nutter I was involved with back in 2005 to 2006, he changed his name by deed poll so could sign anything and everything in his new name.

If a form requests alias's then obviously he has to write down his previous names. Since I was born I've had four surnames, my birth name, my adoptive name and two married names, so they would be classes as alias's I suppose.

It's a pain in the backside with certain things if you do change your name though. My OH took his step dad's last name when he was eight and he has to produce his original birth certificate and change of name details letter from the solicitor for certain things. Dunno if it's cos he was under 18 though?
