  • Tricked into signing Sex Offenders Register????

Hi there, this isn't linked to my OH case, but someone approached me who knew about my OH's situation and said that a close family member of theirs was also falsely accused (they didn't say how long ago but the person in question is early 30's) and when he went in for bail date they told him that they're taking no further action.... they asked him to sign a bit of paper and because he was so relieved and shocked he signed it, afterwards when he told another family member that he had to sign a bit of paper she (who got a law degree or something) questioned about it and when they looked into it he had been 'tricked' into signing to agree to be put on the sex offenders register, they managed to reverse it but it took 6 months, just wondering if this is actualy possible but also to warn others....??

You don't need a law degree to see if somebody has signed the SOR.

I can only think that if this happened, that he accepted a caution and was not NFAd. The circumstances you describe - I would be astonished if that actually happened.

ahhh o.k, i did think it was strange but maybe he was cautioned (or maybe he was bluffing to his family members to not make it sound so bad????) i do believe that this person doesnt seem to be alowed to live with his partner who has a child previous relationship and their newborn child, so might be making sense???? - But is a caution or when you've admitted you've done the crime???

Don't mean to be prying into their lifes as they have been supportive with what we're going through - but obviously they 'warned' us as its the same police force dealing with our case as it is there's and want to sort of know what to expect and/or what they're capable of.

A caution requires and admittance of guilt.

Maybe it was an NFA and something went wrong, who knows. However I find it very strange that somebody who was NFAd should be required to sign the SOR.
