And whilst it's important to get a good solicitor, you can't expect to find a magic bullet. Perhaps you are taking too much responsibility on your shoulders for 'getting this right'. Phone a few and chat with them. Is it for your partner? Maybe he should do the same too?

It can only help to be positive, whilst not easy it will make everything a little easier and clearer to deal with. A lot of people suggest visiting a GP or counsellor, as they can be very helpful in terms of helping those under huge stress. Good luck

Swirl, let's say for instance you are an expert in a certain subject. A potential client comes along, and spends a lot of time on the phone and emailing with you, taking up your professional time, asking what you think of other experts in your own field.

You politely try to answer all questions, but the same questions are asked again and again and also you are being asked what you think of other experts in your own field, so basically you are being used as a sign post to something potentially better than yourself. And all this is taking up your professional time.

I know that if this was me, I'd say "go to the other expert as you seem to have a lot of interest in them, and you are not listening to my answers to your questions, so I am not what you are looking for. I sincerely do wish you good luck though".

I am really and truly not trying to upset you here, and I will apologise here and now if I have upset you, but you need to see that people here are trying to help you, Gerry has tried to help you but you are still dithering. Remember that most people on here are going through their own private hells, and they still are trying to help you with suggestions, which you then question.

First work out how much you can afford to pay and then see which professionals can do the work for you at the price you are able to pay. Please do not be tempted to pay over the odds. Don't be persuaded by what, on the face of it, appears to be professional looking websites. Paying out huge sums of money does not always result in a not guilty verdict.

There are solicitors listed on here that have been tried and tested and recommended. Bouncing between them, asking them and us who is the best is not going to help you. You need to learn to trust the experiences of those on here.

I am sorry if I sound tough - I really do not mean to.

We are trying and We know others are going through the same hell.
We haven't instructed anyone at present, because of the financial side.

If hubby is eligible for legal aid but chooses to pay privately, and gets the not guilty verdict, he won't get any money back. If he gets found guilty - obviously he won't get his money back.

There are some really good legal aid solicitors and barristers out there. Some of them are just as good as those who you pay and the result - verdicts - can be the same.

You have had some pointers. I don't know if barristers can be instructed via direct access for trial. I know they can for appeal. I will ask some in the London area - that is where the trial would take place, yes?

If it is in London I have had a response from a barrister. You would have to trust my choice though - and I know (and understand why) you have a problem with trusting anyone at the moment.

We've been trying to help with practicalities such as sorting the legal representation but I'm worried that you may need more support than is available from a keyboard.

You have had this tremendous shock straight out of the blue and I suspect you might be feeling that if you don't acknowledge it, i.e. by not nominating a legal team, then it may blow over like a sudden storm and things will settle down again.

There is always hope that the case will be discontinued but as your partner has been given a court date then it is likely to go ahead which will of course open up new worries about what the future may bring.

I can understand you not wanting to discuss this situation fully with your partner and possibly he is in denial and doesn't want to talk about what happened but do you have a close friend or family member who you could share your fears with. If not there is no shame in visiting your GP to ascertain if there is any help they could offer, after all you need to be strong and in good health to support him in fighting this case.

Hello, not sure if u should disclose where case is dealt with I know most things are kept anonymous.
We talk about it all the time, very open about it, even though it's so hard for me with the hurt on top.
We only have Mags date. So yes still time for hope that it will be thrown out!
Just honestly can't see how someone's lies can get this far seems crazy!
Gp has been visited and there are family around who are aware of everything, and who are able to support, and for me to support them too.
Being strong is what i am trying so hard to do.
Some days harder than others. Which I know you all know!
Apart from the decision of instructing, I believe we are doing all we can.
                                Hope this helps
