  • Struggling too

    Hi

My story started mid December when i got home to a card behind the door asking for my help in an investigation. I rang the number the next day thinking it was something and nothing. (I had called the 101 number a couple of weeks previous as i saw some kids messing about on a school roof late evening)

The OIC was unavailable and i left my number for her to contact me. The OIC called me back 3 weeks later and at first was reluctant to tell me what it was regarding. Eventually she admitted i was being investigated for a historic sexual assualt. Stunned would be an understatment.

I explained that it would be another week before i could come in because of work commitments.

I thought this a little strange that they would be ok to wait four weeks from initially putting the card through the door. Surely if it was serious they would want to see me quicker (or is that just my naivety ?)

An allegation was made against me. It was one allegation in 2002, 2003 or 2004. The complainant couldnt remember which year, but seemed to remember in great detail what i had done. For two of these years i wasnt living in the area.

There are a some other unusual twists to the story that i cant mention because it may make it obvious.

That was five weeks ago and i have heard absolutely nothing. I have spoke to the GP and councellors but other then that i am in bits. I dont sleep or eat and my work is suffering.

I cant believe that someone would do this. Its a terrible thing to have to deal with. Life has been good these last few months. I finally got the job of my dreams, i was going to buy my house and i have a met a great girl and now all the good things just seem to pale in comparison.

    Thanks for listening / reading

    Unknown Soldier

Not sure what im looking for but maybe putting it down in writing may make me feel a little better.

I hope you didn't tell the police that you weren't there for those two years, as they tend to move the goalposts....

You were trying to be open and honest. Police are likely to go back to the complainant and put that discrepancy to her. She's likely to say "oh I forgot it was two years after that ...... I am so traumatised......"

I must be so naive. Ive never been in a police car in my life and now this. Never been in trouble. Didnt realise the police would not be impartial.

No, not naive at all. Like most of us on here we all believed the police are honest people. Most are but sadly some are not, which gives the good coppers a bad reputation. They are also under pressure to increase rape convictions to meet targets.....

Such a shame that there are conviction targets for any sort of crime of this magnitude. Even though I haven't been charged I can't sit back. I've been doing some investigation of my own and this person is no saint. Don't know whether I'm making things worse. Its nice to know that there are people like you rights fighter who are on our side.

Hopefully you can see her Facebook. If you can take screenshots of anything relating to "I'll be in the money soon" sort of thing, that might help if the worst happens. Don't let the police know you are viewing her profile otherwise she'll change the privacy settings....

I have it all saved as an HTML on memory card. Would you advise screen dumps as well. Nothing that obvious unfortunately but plenty of other stuff that shows she isn't whiter than white. Not sure if that would help but I believe its worth a shot. This is completely new to me though so haven't a clue what I'm supposed to be doing. Driving me mad just waiting though.

Better to screenshot as if she is told by police to change privacy settings you might not see them as they are currently saved

Hi sorry to hear your going through this ordeal just like RF says please do not tell the police anything they will just work a story around it or change the dates by reinterviewing.i have just been charged after 11 months on bail and I stupidly told police things such as I didn't know girl at the time. Well now all of a sudden they changed her previous date of rape by 3.5 years along with lot of other things.Keep safe any info you might think will help you well away from the police.make copies and only show your solicitor if you ever need one. I wish you the best of luck.

Thankyou. It is a breath of fresh air to realise that there are people who do not judge. I may be thinking premature but I have already been looking at briefs who are close by. Don't want to say where I am but Jordans of Doncaster are closest. Do you have an opinion on them ?

We have had good and not so good reports on Jordans, however David Crossling is the solicitor there who seems to get a lot of praise with regards to trial work
