  • Stephen Cooper - Rustem Guardian

So glad I've found this forum.

Without going into too many details, I contacted, met and employed Stephen Cooper to assist with a case of someone who's been convicted after being falsely accused of a sexual crime. I believe that in my desperation, my judgement was clouded. Should have listened to my gut feelings about the man.

He recommended Rustem Guardian Solicitors who have done virtually nothing apart from constantly demand more money even though we have stuck to a payment plan that was agreed by all parties during our initial meeting with Cooper.

We now find ourselves virtually back to square one having lost a depressing amount of time and money; two things we couldn't afford to waste.

I've not had a chance to delve too deeply into this forum, but even a cursory glance shows Cooper not exactly being showered with praise. If anyone's found themselves in a similar position to us and has gone on to find a much better solution, any advice/recommendations etc. would be gratefully received. It's been a hellish time, but we're still fighting every step of the way.

Many thanks for taking the time to read this.

If you pay privately now you will not be able to claw any money back if/when you get the convictions quashed. It really depends on whether your guy is eligible for funding. It can get rather complicated.

What is the status quo at the moment? And if you are still looking for assistance, which area is your man in? Sorry for all the questions but for me to advise I need some info from you.

From this am I right in thinking that you were investigating the possibility of an appeal against conviction?

If so did the trial barrister offer an opinion on any possible grounds for an appeal?

        Good question CH!

The defendant has a right to a document called an "Advice on Appeal" whether it is positive or negative. If he has not been given one he can ask trial sol to make sure he gets one. That doc can be helpful for any fresh appeal sol.

            Exactly same position - he's a conman

I can't believe reading your post, it mirrors exactly what we have gone through and the situation we are now in, except it was a barrister and not solicitor. We are determined to keep fighting, but we are at the moment worse than square one after a few years. Any advice would be greatly appreciated and please let us know if you have found a way forward, to help you and also we would appreciate it.

My pleasure entirely!! It's good that one case has now moved on so I can get to work on Stephen's circus case. As you can see from emails I have already made a start. Unlike some, if I say I am going to do something then I will do it.

                          Timbur Rustem

We went through Rustem Guardian without stephen and I honestly do not regret it. I had to pay privately but god they get the job well done! Our barristar was Hugh Blake James and he is fantastic, boy he caught that woman out on the stand with the lies she was pouring out, deffo 1000% recommend, I speak from experience!

I'm so very pleased for you, how amazing, what a result! We would have loved that and I must admit, I do feel envious!! 'He' didn't give us that opportunity, he introduced us to a barrister, not a solicitor and we wouldn't have had the chance to get rid of him. I so wish I had known of this ages ago, it would have saved us a lot of heartache. Just good to know they do exist and so pleased to hear the liar was exposed. Ours could have been too - with a good barrister! Well done!
