  • Possible Arrest

I have just a quick query.

I am now 13 weeks down the line having been interviewed on a voluntary basis to do with historic sexual abuse allegations.

I have not been arrested/bailed and the OIC is more than happy for me to travel abroad.

I am finding it all a bit odd considering the serious nature of the allegations.

Can the OIC at any point just simply arrest me in order to charge me or by the fact that I still have not been arrested give me cause to be hopeful for a successful end to this nightmare.

The OIC has told me he has written his report and the case has now gone through two DS's and a DI.

    Should I still be worried?

You must have the only OIC who follows PACE!
Plod usually arrest coz it gives them more power over you and they can circumvent a lot of laws.

For your safety and peace of mind go and get advice from a solicitor who specialises in allegations such as this and ask if he/she will be your representative in the event of the police coming to your home/work, arresting you and detaining you until they decide to allow a duty solicitor to represent you in interview.

Say nothing more to the police without having got legal advice.
What ever you have already said could be used against you, so be very careful.
    Were you interviewed under caution?
If I were you I would be at a solicitors door now.

Have a look at the solicitors members have used and if any are in your area take note of them.

Ring FASO They will be able to look through their list of solicitors for you.
To be fore armed with troops on stand by will save you a lot of fear, anguish, stress and distress should things turn negative.

Others will be along soon who I'm sure will assist.

    Be strong.

Yeah I was interviewed under caution. That was over 12 weeks ago.

I find it very odd that I have heard nothing since. Surely if the Police had a reason to they would have arrested me by now? I work in a job which brings me into direct contact with children, sometimes on a one on one basis.

How often is it the case that the police do not arrest and then months later arrest a suspect?

Thanks for the advice so far

        arrested

the police already arrested me once and let me out on the latest bail... set for first appearance may 19.... i wonder whats gonnna happen in between

having a lawyer so far is great... not only he saved me the embarassment of getting arrested from my apartment, he assisted me in turning myself over... and the police let me out after only 5 hrs! and he is sorting thru all the paperwork that i am suppose to deal with... only thing is i think i am asking him too many questions and he is a bit annoyed at me =(
