  • Interview - strange conversation with police

As posts in other threads I have been accused of a rape some 25yrs ago but today the police spoke me with via the phone and wanted to know if I had some contact details for witnesses, which I provided.

The strange thing is - at the end of call I asked how long this will take now and the police officer stated the file had been with them now for over 2yrs and they are nearly complete, despite only speaking to me last week for all of 30mins and this wasn't the OIC who did it .. I advised the officer who interviewed me said it could take years.

If they have been working on a file for years and my interview was short and sweet, no arrests and really didn't question anything I said the interview was simply .. do you know xx, were you ever alone with xx, the brief allegation and the fact she apparently told someone years ago but no copy of their statement, did i do it and finally why would they accuse me.

Would you think this short interview was proof the police dont believe her and this is merely ticking the boxes ? (a quick search on the accusers name on google shows she obsessed with abuse, bringing down the system, has 10 kids of which 7 are in care and she's fighting it etc..) or is the length/content of an initial interview and the lack of OIC and questions totally irrelevant ?

Could be anything from a box ticking exercise and they know it's false, or they could be taking it seriously. Try not to read too much into it
