Look at other threads as you will see the answer to that in them. It has been discussed very recently.

Hi Denden , I will give you a brief outline , I presume , you have paid your fee online , filled in the online form and have been given a appointment date for you to visit the American Embassy ? If not , then please note , you must go via the online service , fill in the form , pay the fee , then wait for a appointment date and time .

        but a brief outline.

        1) filled in the online form , answered all questions
        2) contacted my solicitor , they suggested asking the court for a "Proof of Finding" ( I believe that is the correct term) you need to call the court your case was been processed through , I got this at the last minute , but they rushed it
through for me as I expressed the urgency for the document , a "proof of finding" Is basically a lettered headed piece of paper from the court that stated in my case "not guilty" or words to that affect...basically null and void.

Also you will need your DBS check from the police , no older than 6 months.

        And Passport.

        3) you will need to be at the American Embassy usually around 9.30 am , but from I gathered , everyone seems to be given the same time , they only called me for the first time around 11am....BUT do not be late...if you do not know London , then you can use your Sat Nav to get you there , I cannot remember which train station was closets .
        4) Que up outside the embassy with a lot of other people , they let you in around 9.15 , bit of a mad rush by people to enter the building , fairly orderly...
        5) enter the waiting area , very similar to a old style bank , teller type windows with protective glass screening , be seated , await your name to be called , I think it shows up on a board as well.
        6) once your name is called , they ask some basic questions , I handed over my paper work , I was then politely asked to take a seat and to await a further name call...
        7) Long nervous wait , based on what I had read , they are at this point making a decision on your visa application.....
They will give you one of the following 3 based on a non working visa application

        a) a full 10 year visa ....YAY passed with flying colours !
        b) a one year visa , which is good enough to get you into the country , but will need to be renewed the following year
        c) sorry its a no , this can be appealed , but not on the day (I believe)

        8) name re-called , enter another area further down from the seating area , fingers crossed , short pray , await , decision given , one of the above will apply...I believe my passport came back in the post , or I may of been given it back on the day...

        9) leave the building , head home.

My experience of the whole thing , I would say , filling in the online form was the hardest part , as you may know , they ask a lot of questions and details , some which required research as they where asking questions that even I had forgotten the answers to , such as my exact years at school , I think it went back as far as primary !!

Once the paper work was filled in online , the fee was paid I think it was around 100 + pounds , the long wait for the appointment date , the nervous time at the embassy , I found it all quite stressful , BUT when I have to do it all again in say another 8 years or so , then it will be more of a nuisance than stressful.

I hope the above helps , I best crack back on with my work for the day , but feel free to ask any questions or any points you would like to ask , I know how your feeling right now , it is a stressful one....but honestly I found it to be worth it , it helped build a little bit more of my confidence back up in the respect of my been not guilty and totally innocent .

I told the person on the day that gave me my visa , that I was very nervous and I thanked them wholeheartedly , they said , I had nothing to worry about , I had done nothing wrong

Yes I have been to America around 5 times previously , before the false allegation .

They did not ask me lots of questions , that I can remember , as you will know the online form asks lots of questions ,so you have already answered all the questions.

The questions they did ask , where along the lines of me confirming who I was and am I the person making the application etc.

The place is a fairly nice place to visit , a interesting experience if nothing else .

They gave me a full 10 year Visa , which is perfect , but I was worrying myself that I would never get the chance to go to America again !!

Bare in mind , that for you and I its a big deal , for the guys at the embassy , it is just another day , another face , it looks like a bank inside , it feels like a bank inside , it was just like one long visit to the bank .

Honestly it is worth it , you will no doubt of researched this all online , with lots of opinions of hey don't worry , we was not stopped etc , but peace of mind is king in my book..it is worth going through the official channels , especially now they have more computer scans , they take your fingers prints etc. when entering America , or at least they did on my 2012 visit , but not on my most recent visit....but on my most recent visit it was a smaller type airport , the 2012 visit was a bigger airport , I cannot remember which one it was.
