  • My story of abuse and rape

Given that few members got clearly annoyed that I was posting in unappropriate threads, I opened one of mine.

Althought it will say and show no more than what I already said in my posts on the rape issues threads and in the false allegations threads.
Feelings are the same. Prejudice are the same too.
Not being believed, whether you were the accused or the accuser is horrible.

On both sides, I encountered quite a huge number of misleading myths.

People thinking that false allegations don't exist.

Other people thinking that reporting your ex to the police is the equivalent of looking for a vendetta and that the rapes and the abuse never happened.

I'm not sure where you're coming from, but certainly the vast majority of the public don't believe false accusations exist.

This is because they are drip-fed by the media that every accusation of rape is genuine, and this is fuelled by the police regarding every accusation as true.

Yes, your ex may well be having a cushy life, but most don't.

I think everything is a point of view and nothing else. I signed up for this site because it was giving me "both" sides of the story, and it helped me to understand few things (I'm even writing a post on my blog about this topic).

You're stating that the majority of the public don't believe false accusations exist. Is this coming from any statistics or your personal experience?
Just want to understand your point of view.

I was born in another European country, where I used to believe that rape in a relationship couldn't exist and that all the wives and girlfriends reporting an ex for rape were liars. So following my own experience before 2011, I would have said that few rapes were genuine.

I was proved wrong many years later when I had to face the fact I had been raped, despite that was a huge shame to admit in the first place. I ddin't want to report my ex at all, I got convinced into doing it by an organization, because that could save other women from the same treatment. So far from being selfish. I didn't ask for any compensation and there was never any request of that kind against my ex. I only wanted to stop him.

Also, I'm not informed about UK statistics or laws but I can tell you that up here papers don't even bother to "scare off" the readers publishing rape cases. Only false accusers are publicly named and exposed in papers. So the Scottish media are drip-fed exactly the opposite of what you're stating. Also, after the Cadder ruling went into effect, police treats rape cases very carefully and they take care of not considering all reports as genuine, because if someone falsely accused, of any crime, asks for compensation police will be condemned.

Just posting a link, just to give you an example. http://brennybaby.blogspot.co.uk/201...condemned.html
